OVERVIEW
Where the Continent Ends
Tierra del Fuego is separated from mainland Patagonia by the Strait of Magellan. To reach it, you cross by ferry at Primera Angostura the narrowest point of the Strait. What awaits on the other side is one of the most remote and least-visited territories in South America.
Three experiences define Finis Terrae: the king penguins at Estancia Tres Hermanos (the only continental colony in South America), a private full-day navigation through Fiordo Parry with sea elephants and glaciers, and trekking in Karukinka — a reserve larger than Puerto Rico, protected by the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Q: What makes Finis Terrae different from other Patagonia tours?
A: Three unique elements that exist nowhere else: the only king penguin colony in continental South America, Fiordo Parry in fully private navigation format, and Karukinka — one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the Americas, rarely visited by tourists.
Q: Can I see king penguins in Patagonia?
A: Yes — only in Tierra del Fuego, at Estancia Tres Hermanos. This is the only king penguin colony on the South American continent outside of sub-Antarctic islands. Southel operates this visit in private format.
Q: Is Tierra del Fuego accessible year-round?
A: Finis Terrae operates October through May. The best months for king penguins and Fiordo Parry navigation are November through March.
Q: How do I combine Finis Terrae with other Southel programs?
A: Finis Terrae pairs naturally with the Ruta Kawésqar (adding glacial navigation) or Patagonia Esencial (which includes a Fiordo Parry day within an 8-day program). Contact us to build a combined itinerary.
Q: Where is Innata Lodge?
A: Innata Lodge is located in Tierra del Fuego, accessible only by 4×4 vehicle from the Bahía Azul ferry terminal. It is one of the most remote and exclusive lodges in Chilean Patagonia.
